MileLog

App: MileLog — HMRC Mileage Log  |  Developer: Always On Plan B

Effective date: 1 April 2026  |  Last updated: 28 March 2026

The Short Version

MileLog does not collect your data. It does not send anything to any server. Everything you enter stays on your phone. That is it.

What data does MileLog store?

When you use MileLog, the following is stored locally on your device:

  • Trips you log (date, starting location, destination, distance, purpose, vehicle)
  • Vehicle profiles you create
  • Locations you save for quick entry
  • App settings and preferences

None of this leaves your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no servers involved.

Where is my data stored?

On your device only.

  • iOS: Data is stored using SwiftData in the app's sandboxed local storage.
  • Android: Data is stored using Room in the app's sandboxed local storage.

When you export a PDF or CSV, the file is saved to your device storage. From there, you can share it however you like — but that is your action, not ours.

What data does the developer collect?

None.

There is no backend. There is no database we operate. We have no way of seeing your trips, your vehicle names, your locations, or anything else you enter into MileLog.

Analytics & crash reporting

Does MileLog use analytics or crash reporting?

No.

MileLog includes no analytics tools, no usage tracking, no crash reporting services, and no telemetry of any kind. We do not know how many times you open the app, which features you use, or whether the app has ever crashed for you.

Adverts

Does MileLog serve adverts?

No. There are no adverts in MileLog. No advertising networks are integrated.

Permissions

What permissions does MileLog request?

MileLog requests one optional permission:

Notifications — used only for the optional weekly reminder to log your trips. This is a local notification generated on your device. It is not used for marketing or remote messaging. You can decline this permission and MileLog will work normally without it.

MileLog does not request:

  • Location / GPS
  • Camera
  • Microphone
  • Contacts
  • Health data
  • Any other device permission
Third-party services

MileLog does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks, no analytics platforms, and no social login providers in the app.

The App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store handle payment processing for the one-time purchase. Their privacy practices are governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies respectively — MileLog has no involvement in that transaction beyond receiving confirmation that the purchase was made.

GDPR — Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have rights over your personal data. Because MileLog stores all data locally on your device and we hold none of it, most of these rights are exercised by you directly through the app. Specifically:

Right to access — All your data is visible in the app at any time.

Right to erasure — Delete individual trips within the app, or delete all data by uninstalling MileLog. Uninstalling the app removes all data from your device permanently.

Right to data portability — Export your data at any time as a PDF or CSV from within the app.

Right to rectification — Edit any trip or record directly in the app.

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to correct, provide, or delete on our end. If you have a question about your rights, you can contact us at the address below and we will assist where we are able.

Data controller: For the purposes of UK GDPR, you are the data controller of your own trip records. Always On Plan B processes no personal data on its own systems.

Legal basis: Where any processing does occur (for example, processing your purchase via the App Store), the legal basis is contract performance — processing is necessary to provide you with the app you purchased.

Data deletion

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual trips or all records from within the app, or uninstall MileLog. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data permanently. There is no account to close and no server-side data to request deletion of.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be published at this URL with a revised "last updated" date. If the changes are material, we will note this in the app's release notes.
