Data Access & Permissions

Smart Delete requests minimal necessary access to provide core email cleanup functionality. All data processing occurs within Google's secure infrastructure.

Gmail Read Access

Scope: gmail.readonly

Purpose: Read email metadata (sender, subject, date, labels) to identify cleanup patterns and create smart deletion rules

What we DON'T access: Email body content, attachments, or personal communications content

Gmail Modify Access

Scope: gmail.modify

Purpose: Move emails to Trash folder based on user-created deletion rules and explicit user authorization

Safety: Emails moved to Trash only (recoverable for 30 days), never permanently deleted

Apps Script Container

Scope: script.scriptapp

Purpose: Enable Gmail add-on interface integration and background processing for large cleanup operations

User Control: Only operates when explicitly authorized through Gmail add-on interface
