Getting Started
How do I create my first deletion rule?
Open any email in Gmail™, use the Smart Delete panel that appears in the sidebar, and click on quick actions or "Custom Rule Builder" for advanced options.
Is it safe to delete emails in bulk?
Yes! Smart Delete includes safety features: emails are moved to Trash (recoverable for 30 days), important/starred emails are automatically excluded, and you always see a preview before deletion.
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free allows up to 500 deletions/month with 3 rules. Premium ($1/month) offers unlimited deletions, unlimited rules, and priority support.
Using Smart Delete
How do I execute my deletion rules?
Use the "Run Cleanup Now" button on the Smart Delete homepage. All your active rules will be processed manually.
Can I preview what will be deleted?
Yes! Every deletion shows a preview with sample emails and total count. You can also test individual rules before running them.
Can I undo deletions?
Deleted emails go to your Gmail™ Trash and can be recovered for 30 days. Go to Gmail™ → Trash → select emails → "Move to Inbox" to restore.
Why isn't my rule working?
Check that your rule criteria are specific enough. Use the "Test Rule" feature to see what emails match your criteria, then use "Run Cleanup Now" to execute.
Technical Issues
The add-on isn't appearing in Gmail™
Try refreshing Gmail™, checking that the add-on is installed, or temporarily disabling browser extensions that might interfere.
I'm getting permission errors
The add-on needs Gmail™ access to function. Reinstall the add-on if permissions were accidentally revoked.
How do I run my clean-up rules?
Go to the Smart Delete homepage and click "Run Clean-up Now" to execute all your active rules manually.
